A polymer modified with the Nexam crosslinking system can be expected to show improved end-material properties, such as:
- Reduced water uptake
- Improved chemical resistance
- Improved mechanical properties, such as increased E-modulus, dimensional stability and decreased creep
- Improved thermal properties, such as increased continuous working temperatures
- Improved electrical properties
The technology is clean, yields no by-products and requires only minor changes to customers’ existing production equipment. In addition, since only a relatively minor amount of crosslinker is needed, the crosslinked polymer could be reusable.
A major benefit is that customers can process polymers as usual and only at the very end of the production process initiate curing. Post-curing is also possible.
Nexam has products that can be added at various stages of the process to final product.
Nexam’s customers are active in producing materials for use in a range of industries, most notably to the aerospace, automotive, electrical/energy, consumer- and microelectronics, industrial, construction, med-tech and clean-tech industries.
Overall, Nexam supports and works closely with its customers in developing materials with a range of enhanced properties. To give an example: the use of Nexam products enables the increased use of polymers in demanding applications and increasing the level of metal replacement in various industries (e.g. transportation), thereby reducing weight and improving the impact on the environment.
